A relatively new area for Gretchen's creativity is Liturgical Musical Composition.
Since joining the choir of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church in 2006,
Gretchen has been writing anthems for the choir, as well as some treble compositions
for another group directed by Polly James, the PUMC choir director. This endeavor
has resulted in an already fairly large catalog of compositions which Gretchen
would be willing to share with other choirs or soloists for a small fee, allowing
those choir directors to xerox the number of copies needed for their groups.
This is a rather unorthodox manner of publishing music and is intended simply
as a means of sharing music which has been written to glorify God.
Anyone who is interested in reviewing any of the listed compositions should
call Gretchen at:
(845) 485-2563 or write her at Gretchen Gould Choral Series, 71 Ferris Lane,
Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.Some words about Gretchen's CD's...
"I love the theme - you obviously put much thought and care into selecting the tunes, and their order. Your voice is just gorgeous - you have that "forever young" quality that Ella had. And your piano playing is excellent - very nice voicings and arrangements. The sound quality is superb, too. Such a wonderful collaboration between you and your son. You've chosen a few little-know gems like This Year's Crop of Kisses, and Will I Find My Love Today? And then one of my favorites: You Must Believe in Spring. Congratulations on a lovely CD.
